Lead Faculty HR strategy and service delivery, partnering with senior academic and professional services leaders to support excellence in teaching, research and faculty experience.
The Role
London Business School is looking for an experienced and collaborative Associate Director, Faculty HR to join our Research and Faculty Office.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for leading the delivery of Faculty HR strategy and providing strategic and operational leadership across the full range of Faculty HR activity. You will partner with senior academic and professional services leaders to align faculty workforce planning, organisational priorities and people initiatives with the School’s strategic objectives.
Reporting to the Director, RFO, you will act as a trusted adviser on complex HR matters, organisational change, policy development and governance. You will oversee activity including academic recruitment, promotion and tenure, performance and reward processes, employee relations, faculty workforce planning, budgeting, data oversight and professional development.
You will also lead and develop the Faculty HR team, ensuring a high-quality, responsive and collaborative service that supports continuous improvement across faculty people processes, systems and stakeholder engagement.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of Faculty HR strategy, ensuring people priorities support the School’s strategic direction, RFO plans and long-term workforce requirements.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with senior academic leaders, School leadership teams and key stakeholders.
- Provide strategic HR leadership and advice on organisational priorities, workforce planning, people risks, change initiatives and faculty-related people matters.
- Contribute to School-wide and cross-functional initiatives, committees and projects, providing Faculty HR expertise and insight.
- Lead and influence discussions relating to Faculty people policy, governance and operational effectiveness.
- Champion change and continuous improvement by role-modelling collaborative behaviours and embedding effective people practices across faculty populations.
- Oversee faculty recruitment activity, ensuring effective and compliant recruitment processes, approvals and candidate engagement.
- Provide oversight and strategic support for faculty induction and onboarding, helping ensure a positive and effective transition into the School.
- Approve faculty recruitment communications, onboarding documentation and related faculty information resources.
- Oversee annual faculty performance review, salary review and reward-related processes, ensuring effective governance, accuracy and timely delivery.
- Provide senior oversight and leadership on complex employee relations matters, including cases requiring external legal support.
- Lead the review and continuous improvement of Faculty HR policies, processes and governance arrangements.
- Lead oversight of statutory, ranking and accreditation-related data submissions and reporting requirements.
- Lead, develop and support the Faculty HR team through effective performance management, coaching and development.

Who We Are Looking For
- A degree, equivalent work experience or other relevant HR qualification, such as CIPD.
- A demonstrated track record of relationship building, persuasion and influencing.
- The ability to act as a resilient, driven self-starter who leads positively by example.
- A collaborative leadership style and the ability to role-model constructive behaviours.
- A solution-focused approach, strong problem-solving capability and excellent communication skills.
- Confidence working with ambiguity and openness to change.
- The ability to role-model School values, professional standards and sound judgement.
- A proven track record delivering people management initiatives linked to agreed plans.
- The ability to work naturally and purposefully across teams, including within the RFO and across the wider School.
- Experience advising senior stakeholders on complex HR, people policy or organisational matters.
- Strong understanding of HR governance, compliance and employee relations practice.
- Experience leading or supporting process improvement, policy development and change activity.
- Strong data, reporting and analytical capability to support evidence-based decision-making.
- Experience managing, coaching or developing a team would be advantageous.

For this role specifically, you will be expected to be on campus 2days per week.
We operate with ‘core hours’ – 10:00-15:00 – to maximise opportunities for connection and collaboration across teams during the working day. Outside of these hours, you may still be required for meetings or collaboration based on your role and customer needs. Additionally, we offer Protected Time - a flexible, one-hour slot, within the working week dedicated to your learning and development, wellbeing, or focused, quiet work
