The Opportunity
C Recruit is working with a leading communications agency to appoint an Associate Director to join its growing Financial Services team.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced PR professional who understands the financial services landscape and is confident operating at a senior client-facing level.
The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and delivering integrated communications programmes for a range of financial services clients, with a particular focus on consumer and personal finance.
You will work closely with senior clients, journalists and internal teams to develop high-impact campaigns that bring complex financial topics to life and generate meaningful media coverage and reputation-building opportunities.
The Role
As Associate Director, you will take a senior role across a portfolio of financial services accounts, providing strategic counsel while remaining close to the delivery of campaigns.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading day-to-day senior client relationships and acting as a trusted communications adviser.
- Developing and delivering proactive PR and communications strategies across financial services accounts.
- Identifying news, cultural and consumer trends that can create opportunities for clients.
- Developing compelling media narratives and securing high-quality national, consumer, business and trade coverage.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with journalists, editors and relevant media contacts.
- Providing senior counsel around reputation, issues and reactive communications.
- Supporting clients with thought leadership, executive profiling and spokesperson positioning.
- Overseeing campaigns from initial strategy through to delivery and measurement.
- Leading account teams and providing direction, coaching and development to more junior team members.
- Supporting new business opportunities, pitches and organic account growth.
- Working collaboratively with creative, digital, social and wider agency teams where appropriate.
- Monitoring the financial services and wider political, economic and consumer landscape to identify emerging opportunities and risks.

The Ideal Candidate
We're looking for an established PR professional with a strong track record within financial services communications.
You are likely to have:
- Significant agency-side PR experience, ideally at Senior Account Director / Associate Director level.
- Strong experience working with financial services clients and an understanding of the consumer finance landscape.
- Experience across areas such as banking, mortgages, savings, lending, insurance, pensions, investments, fintech or financial wellbeing.
- A strong understanding of the UK media landscape and excellent journalist relationships.
- A proven ability to develop proactive campaigns that generate meaningful media coverage.
- Experience providing strategic counsel to senior clients and stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience managing and developing junior team members.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to identify opportunities for account growth.
- Confidence operating in a fast-paced agency environment and managing multiple priorities.
