Responsibilities
UK Tax & Reporting Compliance
- Work Pattern: 4 days a week Monday to Thursday in the office
- Location: London, United Kingdom
The UK Tax Compliance Associate Director oversees UK direct and indirect tax compliance.
- Lead UK tax compliance, including corporate tax preparation and VAT tax return preparation, in liaison with the accounting team for the Group's UK entities and their branches/representation offices, ensuring adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
- Act as the main point of contact with HMRC and manage any UK tax audits that arise.
- Oversee Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) compliance, ensuring appropriate tax accounting arrangements are maintained and the annual SAO certification is submitted to HMRC on time.
- Maintain the UK tax risks and controls matrix, keeping it current as the business and tax legislation evolve.
- Own and periodically review the UK tax risk management policy, ensuring it reflects current practice and governance expectations.
- Work with the Group Tax and finance teams on UK legal entities & branches tax provisions, financial reports and disclosures of UK results, in line with IAS 12, IAS 34 and other IFRS rules during H1 and year-end.
- Manage the relationship with the external auditors responsible for the current and deferred tax statutory results of the UK legal entities, ensuring timely delivery at interim and year-end.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of UK tax rules and keep the Group tax team updated on proposed and enacted legislative changes.
- Monitor OECD releases and develop a thorough understanding of the Global Anti-Base Erosion (GloBE) Model Rules.
- Prepare and submit the Group's Country-by-Country (CbCR) reporting and related notifications, in line with OECD and UK requirements.
- Address UK Pillar II and global minimum tax matters, including related compliance, across the jurisdictions where Hikma operates.
- Account for UK withholding tax in coordination with the Group tax and finance teams and identify opportunities to utilise applicable Double Taxation Treaties to minimise withholding taxes and prevent double taxation.
- Obtain, review and maintain all documentation required to support treaty relief claims and withholding tax relief across the Group, such as UK certificates of tax residence, treaty claim forms, beneficial ownership documentation, withholding tax exemption certificates.
- Assist HR with payroll tax compliance, including non-resident director reporting, STBV arrangements and Appendix 8 reporting.

Group Strategic Initiatives and Projects
The role also offers involvement in wider Group tax matters, including:
- Support European and US business development, assessing the tax implications of new opportunities, commercial arrangements and market entry with the wider Group Tax team.
- Contribute to Group strategic initiatives and tax planning, including structuring, financing and reorganisation across the Group's international footprint.
- Support M&A across the deal lifecycle from tax due diligence, structuring and post-acquisition integration, with corporate development, finance and external advisors.
- Manage tax risks and opportunities arising from cross-border transactions and evolving international tax developments.

Requirements
- Minimum 12 years of relevant tax experience.
- A relevant professional qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CTA or equivalent)
- Strong tax accounting technical skills and mindset.
- In-house industry tax experience is an advantage.
- A strong team player with a collaborative mindset as the Group Tax team spans four countries, so the ability to work effectively across borders and build strong working relationships is essential.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to tight reporting deadlines given the interim/year-end cycle.
- Strong stakeholder management, comfortable partnering with finance, corporate development and external advisors.
- Experience managing external advisors and internal stakeholders.
- Experience handling various types of HMRC audits.
- Experience supporting M&A transactions, including tax due diligence and structuring, is an advantage.
- Exposure to European and US tax matters, ideally in a business development, planning or advisory context is an advantage.
- Experience contributing to strategic tax planning and group-wide initiatives.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Experience with tax provision software (OneSource Tax Provision, "OTP") for local provisions and consolidating actuals and forecasts.
- Familiarity with ERP and consolidation systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, Hyperion) an advantage.
- Excellent written and verbal English.
