Associate Director - International Tax

London, UK

About Clear Street:

Clear Street is modernizing the brokerage ecosystem. Founded in 2018, Clear Street is a diversified financial services firm replacing the legacy infrastructure used across capital markets.

We started from scratch by building a completely cloud-native clearing and custody system designed for today’s complex, global market. Clear Street’s proprietary prime brokerage platform adds significant efficiency to the market, while focusing on minimizing risk, redundancy, and cost for clients. Our goal is to create a single source-of-truth platform for every asset class, in every country, and in any currency.

By combining highly-skilled product and engineering talent with seasoned finance professionals, we’re building the essentials to compete in today’s fast-paced markets.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Tax Associate Director (or Director) to lead tax matters across our UK, EMEA, and APAC operations. Based out of our London office in the United Kingdom, this is a high-impact individual contributor role within a fast-growing fintech business and will report locally to the UK Finance Director. The individual will act as a strategic leader responsible for managing corporate tax compliance and reporting, transfer pricing, planning and advisory and risk management across the UK, EU and APAC regions to strengthen the overall global tax and, more broadly, finance functions for the Company and support the needs of a rapidly growing organization.

We are looking for someone who is excited to join a fast-paced organization and contribute to building a best-in-class Tax function as the Company continues to scale across businesses and geographies. The team is lean and the scope of the role is broad and so the position offers significant opportunities for leadership and growth. You will serve as the primary tax authority for a complex, multi-jurisdictional enterprise, advising senior business leaders, managing external advisors, and partnering with financial, legal, HR, and product teams to ensure tax efficiency, compliance and strategic alignment.

Responsibilities

Tax compliance and reporting:

  • Manage end-to-end tax compliance cycle including, but not limited to, the preparation and/or review and filing of corporate income tax returns, VAT/GST and/or withholding taxes using local external advisors, where appropriate.
  • Oversee the calculation and review of current and deferred tax provisions under IFRS / US GAAP for regional entities.
  • Ensure timely and accurate tax disclosures in statutory financial statements.

Tax Planning And Advisory

  • Collaborate with Head of Tax on global tax strategy ensuring regional alignment with overall group-wide objectives.
  • Assist with development and implementation of tax planning initiatives, identifying opportunities to optimize effective tax rate and maximize efficiency and tax savings.
  • Assist with M&A tax due diligence and post-acquisition tax integration and legal entity rationalization workstreams, including holding structures and IP ownership.
  • Act as internal tax advisor for various business units and stakeholders, including, but not limited to, finance, legal, operations and HR.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments in UK, EMEA, and APAC jurisdictions (including Pillar Two / BEPS) and assess impact on the business.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
