Job Description

Purpose of the Role

To establish and nurture profitable partnerships with both corporate and individual clients. It's the bridge between the bank's offerings and clients' needs, ensuring mutual benefit and long-term success.

Accountabilities

  • Management of client relationships to identify the clients' financial goals, challenges, and risk tolerance to support the analysis of data obtained from various sources, including the investment portfolio and cash flow, to identify trends, insights, areas for improvement, and additional services to support client needs.
  • Research and understanding of the client's industry trends, regulatory landscape, and competitive environment to inform strategic recommendations.
  • Design of customized solutions that address the client's specific needs and objectives, incorporating a range of products and services from the bank's portfolio.
  • Communication of the value proposition of proposed solutions, justification of recommendations, and negotiation of terms that are beneficial for both the client and the bank.
  • Provision of guidance to clients to support their financial decisions, offering expert investment advice, risk management, and wealth management strategies support, and updates on market trends to ensure a positive and continuous relationship.
  • Assessment of financial, legal, and operational risks associated with client relationships, and implementation of measures to minimize potential losses.
  • Documentation of all client interactions, transactions, and agreements to ensure transparency and auditability, and communicate findings effectively to support product development, service offerings, and the overall bank strategy.
  • Monitoring of client satisfaction, revenue generated, and other relevant metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of relationship management efforts.

  • Lead a team performing complex tasks, using well-developed professional knowledge and skills to deliver on work that impacts the whole business function. Set objectives and coach employees in pursuit of those objectives, appraisal of performance relative to objectives, and determination of reward outcomes.

  • For an individual contributor, they will lead collaborative assignments and guide team members through structured assignments, identify the need for the inclusion of other areas of specialization to complete assignments. They will identify new directions for assignments and/or projects, identifying a combination of cross-functional methodologies or practices to meet required outcomes.
  • Consult on complex issues; providing advice to People Leaders to support the resolution of escalated issues.
  • Identify ways to mitigate risk and develop new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work done.
  • Perform work that is closely related to that of other areas, which requires understanding of how areas coordinate and contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the organization sub-function.
  • Collaborate with other areas of work, for business-aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategy.
  • Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources of information, internal and external sources such as procedures and practices (in other areas, teams, companies, etc.) to solve problems creatively and effectively.
  • Communicate complex information. 'Complex' information could include sensitive information or information that is difficult to communicate because of its content or its audience.
  • Influence or convince stakeholders to achieve outcomes.

Join Barclays as an Associate Director - International Banking within the Banks sector of the International Corporate Bank. In this client-facing role, you will work closely with Relationship Directors to support the development and growth of strategic banking relationships. Additionally, you will identify and drive business development, primarily with new and existing customers across one or more key account portfolios. You will become well versed in the nuances of the global securities market, developing a deep understanding of the various participants and roles each play in this dynamic and forever evolving segment of global financial institutions.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A background in corporate cash management products including liquidity solutions.
  • Credit skills.
  • Proven experience interacting with multinational clients, acting with confidence to engage some of the Bank’s most sophisticated and complex relationships.
  • Corporate Banking products, such as Treasury Products - FX, Lending, Transaction Banking, Capital Markets, and Risk Solution's.
  • Delivering excellent internal and external stakeholder management.
  • Commercial mindset.
  • Focus on tracking and monitoring income month to month to proactively assess client and portfolio performance.
  • Effective communication.
  • Pro-active approach to delivering solutions.
  • KYC, Customer Due Diligence, and Operational team to maintain compliance and clients’ banking running smoothly.
  • Experience and understanding of Portfolio management.

Desirable skills include:

  • Good understanding of pricing models, credit grading, income drivers.
  • Understanding of complex debt and organizational structures.
  • Good awareness of Investment Banking products and services.
  • Considerable Microsoft Office and specifically PowerPoint and Excel skills.
  • Ideally from a Banks background.

You may be assessed on the key critical skills relevant for success in the role such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, and digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills.

The role is based in our London office.

This role is deemed as a Certified role under the PRA & UK Financial Conduct Authority - Individual Accountabilities Regulations and may require the role holder to hold mandatory regulatory qualifications or the minimum qualifications to meet internal company benchmarks.
