Are you a senior Mechanical Engineer ready to take a leading role in delivering some of the most technically demanding data centre projects in the industry?
We’re working with a major international engineering consultancy and an established leader in the data centre and mission-critical sector. With a strong global project portfolio and continued investment in its engineering capability, the business is looking for an Associate Director to provide mechanical leadership from its Newcastle office.
This is an opportunity to combine technical excellence with team leadership, client engagement, and the chance to influence the delivery of complex, high-profile projects.
🔧 The Role
You’ll take a leading role in the mechanical design and delivery of data centre projects, working closely with clients and multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop resilient, efficient, and practical solutions. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the mechanical engineering scope across complex data centre projects, from concept through to detailed design and delivery.
- Providing technical direction and ensuring designs meet the required quality, performance, regulatory, and industry standards.
- Managing and coordinating multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
- Building strong relationships with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders, acting as a trusted senior technical contact.
- Mentoring and developing engineers, supporting technical excellence and the continued development of the team.
- Contributing to project planning, resource management, and the successful delivery of programme and commercial objectives.

🎯 What We’re Looking For
We’re keen to speak with experienced Mechanical Engineers who can demonstrate:
- Extensive mechanical design experience within building services, data centres, or other technically complex environments.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical building services systems and their application to critical infrastructure.
- Experience leading projects and coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Excellent client-facing, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Chartered Engineer status, or actively working towards chartership.
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant discipline.
- The ability to combine technical judgement with a practical, collaborative approach to project delivery.
Direct data centre experience would be particularly valuable, but we’re also interested in speaking with senior engineers from other complex building services environments who can demonstrate relevant technical and leadership experience.
