If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC, and fulfil your potential - whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or an exciting new direction, we offer opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

We’re one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with a network that covers more than 50 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We're currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Associate Director.

You’ll assist our Relationship Directors in building relationships by identifying and meeting existing and prospective customer needs. This will include identifying product and service opportunities, carrying out customer research, driving new to bank origination, financial and credit analysis, and helping the Relationship Director prepare for customer meetings. You’ll also be responsible for the co-ordination of complex credit applications or renewals, and risk escalation management. In the absence of the Director, you’ll act as the focal point for the relationship, products, and services.

In this role you'll:

  • Provide support to the Relationship Directors to enable them to optimise the potential value of client relationships, improve client engagement, and deliver needs-based solutions and fair outcomes for customers
  • Enable proactive client management by attending client meetings with the Relationship Director as necessary and acting as the first point of contact for customer’s credit-related enquiries
  • Participate in deal discussions with clients alongside the Director to acquire an understanding of the relationship and facilitate the management of complex local/international credit cases
  • Prepare appropriate analysis, proposals, and presentations to prospective customers
  • Support on day-to-day activities including client planning, activities to drive new to bank origination, and pipeline management
  • Support in coordinating with product partners and ensuring data and call reports are accurately and timely updated

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
