Introduction

We are proud of the work we do in National Security and the difference it makes to the safety and prosperity of the UK. We are looking for an experienced business developer / account manager to join our thriving Defence and Security Business Unit and grow our National Security business — bringing established sector experience, a strong network of contacts, and a track record of building trusted client relationships that turn into repeat business and deliver real impact.

Main purpose of the job

As Senior Business Developer / Account Manager, you will join an established commercial team working with clients across the National Security community. You will own and grow an area of our National Security business, using your existing relationships and sector knowledge to identify opportunities, shape work programmes and develop the commercial approach to bids, working on your own initiative to build your own line of business. Key client relationships and repeat business built on trust are the cornerstone of our commercial approach, and your responsibilities will include client management during project delivery.

This role is based in Cheltenham, with occasional travel to our Cambridge office.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and own your plan for growing business within a National Security account
  • Identify and build consultative relationships with key clients and stakeholders across the National Security community, to enable further sales opportunities
  • Identify sales opportunities and work with our technical teams to shape propositions, maximise conversion and close substantial sales
  • Support bids with positioning, win themes and pricing strategy
  • Interact with teams across the whole of Cambridge Consultants to bring the best technology to our clients to solve their problems
  • Build and maintain deep domain knowledge of the National Security market and its challenges

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
