Associate Director, Policy, Private Credit

Salary range £45,000-£50,000

About the role

The Alternative Credit Council (ACC), the private credit affiliate of the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA), is seeking an Associate Director, Private Credit to lead its work on regulatory issues affecting European institutional investors in private credit, with a particular focus on insurance companies and pension funds.

This role requires knowledge of regulatory policy and industry practices across the asset management, insurance and pension sectors. The successful candidate will help shape policy developments affecting asset owners’ ability to invest in private credit by producing high-quality policy and advocacy materials; engaging with policymakers in the UK and EU; as well as building strong relationships with institutional investors and their advisers.

This is a full-time role based in London and is subject to a three-month probationary period.

Key responsibilities

  • Monitor and assess regulatory, legislative and policy developments affecting institutional investors’ allocations to private credit, including developments relevant to insurance companies, pension funds, and other asset owners.
  • Develop policy positions and advocacy strategies on matters affecting institutional investors, working closely with colleagues across relevant jurisdictions.
  • Develop the ACC’s relationships with institutional investors and their advisers.
  • Support colleagues across AIMA and the ACC’s international offices on private credit policy matters.
  • Represent the ACC, AIMA and their members in discussions with policymakers, regulators and other external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the association’s broader policy, publications, events and thought leadership initiatives.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
