Are you a senior Power Systems Engineer ready to take a leading role in designing the resilient electrical networks behind some of the world’s most critical digital infrastructure?
We’re working with a major international engineering consultancy and a leading provider of engineering design services to the data centre sector. The business is continuing to invest in its specialist Power Systems capability and is looking for an Associate Director to provide technical leadership across complex power infrastructure projects.
This is an opportunity to work on high-profile hyperscale, colocation and mission-critical developments while influencing technical standards, developing engineers and contributing to the growth of a specialist engineering function.
⚡ The Role
You’ll act as a senior technical authority, leading complex power systems and substation projects from concept through to delivery. Working with multidisciplinary teams and major clients, you’ll help ensure electrical networks are resilient, reliable and designed to meet the demands of critical infrastructure.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading power systems design and analysis across complex data centre, substation and wider power infrastructure projects.
- Providing technical direction on load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, arc flash and transient analysis.
- Overseeing network design, resilience strategies and technical risk to ensure successful delivery against programme, budget and quality objectives.
- Coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams and acting as a trusted technical contact for clients and project stakeholders.
- Leading technical proposals, fee submissions and bid activities, contributing to client relationships and business growth.
- Mentoring and developing engineers through technical guidance, design reviews and professional development.
- Influencing engineering standards, methodologies and the continued development of the Power Systems capability.

🎯 What We’re Looking For
We’re keen to speak with established technical leaders who can demonstrate:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline (BEng, MEng or equivalent).
- Chartered Engineer status, or actively working towards chartership.
- Extensive experience in power systems design, analysis and delivery within data centres, utilities, renewable energy or critical infrastructure.
- Strong expertise in power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, arc flash and transient analysis.
- Proficiency in ETAP, SKM, DIgSILENT PowerFactory or comparable power systems software.
- Proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and managing client relationships.
- The ability to lead complex technical projects while contributing to commercial and business development activities.

Direct data centre experience would be highly advantageous, particularly across hyperscale or colocation environments. However, we’re also interested in speaking with strong candidates from utilities, transmission and distribution, renewable energy and wider power infrastructure where the technical experience is transferable.
