Associate Director - Publishing Planning and Buying

Location: London

The Role

An established media agency is looking for an Associate Director to lead publishing campaigns and manage client relationships, team performance, and commercial delivery.

You will oversee campaign planning and execution, ensure financial and operational processes are managed accurately, and act as a senior day-to-day contact for clients.

A key part of the role is leading and developing a team, supporting their progression and wellbeing while ensuring high-quality delivery across all accounts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee campaign delivery across assigned accounts, ensuring accuracy, quality, and commercial value.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted senior point of contact.
  • Lead, manage, and develop team members, supporting their performance, progression, and wellbeing.
  • Manage media campaigns from planning through to completion, with a particular focus on print.
  • Develop media plans in collaboration with client, commerce, and investment teams.
  • Ensure campaign planning and reporting align with strategic and commercial objectives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve campaign performance, planning processes, and operational delivery.
  • Monitor workloads, allocate resources, and prioritize activities effectively.
  • Ensure financial, administrative, and operational processes are managed accurately.
  • Support the implementation of best practices, training, and continuous improvement.
  • Identify and escalate any barriers to successful delivery.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in media planning and campaign management, particularly across print.
  • Experience managing teams and overseeing campaign delivery.
  • Strong client relationship management skills, with the ability to act as a senior client contact.
  • Commercial awareness and experience managing financial delivery and account value.
  • Ability to develop strategic media plans aligned with client objectives.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret campaign data and demonstrate value.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
  • Experience improving operational processes and supporting team development.
