Associate Director (Quantity Surveying)
Salary: £60,000 - £75,000 (DOE & MRICS Status)
Location: Glasgow or Edinburgh (Hybrid Working)
Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate Director to join a leading cost consultancy with established offices across Central Scotland. Following continued growth and the successful award of several major frameworks and high-value projects, the consultancy is looking to strengthen its senior leadership team.
The business delivers cost management services across commercial, infrastructure, public sector, residential and mixed-use developments, including major schemes valued in excess of £100 million. This role offers the opportunity to lead the commercial delivery of flagship projects while playing a key role in business development, mentoring the next generation of surveyors, and supporting the strategic growth of the Edinburgh office.
This position offers a clearly defined pathway towards Director and Equity Partner level for the right individual.
Job Requirements
- Proven experience operating at Senior Quantity Surveyor, Associate or Associate Director level within a PQS consultancy
- MRICS Chartered status is essential (or willingness to complete APC within six months)
- Strong experience delivering high-value commercial, residential, public sector or infrastructure projects
- Proven ability to manage key client relationships and generate new business opportunities
- Experience mentoring junior surveyors and supporting APC candidates
- Strong commercial, financial and leadership skills
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for regional travel
- Stable employment history demonstrating leadership and long-term career progression

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the commercial management and successful delivery of major construction projects valued in excess of £100 million
- Oversee full pre and post-contract quantity surveying services across a diverse project portfolio
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, consultants and stakeholders
- Drive business development, fee generation and the acquisition of new projects
- Mentor and develop junior team members, supporting APC candidates through to chartership
- Work closely with senior leadership to support the strategic growth of the business, particularly within the Edinburgh office
- Provide commercial leadership, technical guidance and quality assurance across multiple projects
- Represent the consultancy professionally at client meetings, networking events and industry functions
