An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Associate Director or Project Director Quantity Surveyor to join the Manchester team of a highly regarded, international construction and property consultancy.

This is a senior appointment within an established and successful Cost Management team, offering the opportunity to work across an exciting and genuinely varied portfolio of projects throughout Manchester, Liverpool and the wider North West.

The successful individual will work alongside an established Associate Quantity Surveyor, providing senior leadership across key projects and client relationships while supporting and developing the wider team. Together, they will play an important role in strengthening client relationships, developing the team and supporting the continued growth of the Manchester business.

The opportunity would suit someone who enjoys being client-facing, commercially involved and close to project delivery, but who also wants to play a bigger role in developing people, strengthening client relationships and helping to grow a successful regional team.

The Opportunity

Working as part of the senior leadership team, you'll take responsibility for a portfolio of projects and key client relationships while helping to lead and develop the Quantity Surveying team.

The project mix is particularly varied, with opportunities across commercial, entertainment, leisure, heritage and major city-centre developments throughout Manchester and Liverpool.

This isn't a role where you'll move away from clients and delivery. The successful individual will remain actively involved in projects, providing senior commercial advice and becoming a trusted point of contact for clients.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Above all, this opportunity would suit someone who enjoys people. Someone who can build trusted relationships, bring the best out of a team and who is comfortable getting out into the market, meeting clients and developing relationships rather than operating purely as a technical QS.

What’s on Offer

This is a particularly exciting time to join the Manchester team, with the opportunity to take on a visible leadership position within an established business that already has strong client relationships and a varied pipeline of work across the North West.

You'll have the opportunity to influence how the team develops, build your own client relationships and work across some of the region's most interesting commercial, entertainment, leisure and heritage projects.

The position offers the best of both sides of a senior consultancy role - remaining close to projects and clients while having genuine responsibility for people, relationships and business growth.

Looking to make the next step? Or looking for a fresh opportunity with greater influence? This offers an excellent platform for long-term progression.
