Service Charges Associate – Retail & Retail Service Charges Team – WSP

About the Role
Effectively managing service charges and insurance advice for major occupier clients, you’ll join a team focussed on delivering a positive impact.
The team—consisting of nine dedicated Accountants and Surveyors—supports high-profile brands including Next, Sainsbury's, EE, Amazon, Waterstones, Fatface, Oak Furnitureland, and Ingeus. The work takes precise yet insightful attention to detail to ensure profitability, stakeholder trust, and efficient expenditure control—critical in today’s challenging retail landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor client-specific mailboxes and filing systems, managing communications with clients, landlords, and managing agents via efficient database systems.
- Process and allocate document requests, tackling ad-hoc and ongoing weekly/monthly reporting, while promptly escalating client queries.
- Analyse and challenge expense claims for clarity, value, and compliance with case law.
- Assist with tender preparation and business development while growing your own portfolio.
- Build strong relationships across WSP UK and Ireland–as well as with key teams such as Lease Advisory, Town Planning, and Valuation in our WSP GL Hearn retail network.

What We Need
To excel in this role, you’ll need to demonstrate:

Technical Expertise:
- Detailed knowledge of service charge regulations and jurisprudence (case law).
- MRICS qualification (essential).
- Strong property or asset management fundamentals (preferably in retail).

Business & Operational Acumen:
- An entrepreneurial mindset, so you proactively retain clients, win new business, and drive growth.
- Sharp commercial awareness to enhance fiscal confidence within chain operations.

Attention to Detail & Reliability:
- Unwavering precision when decoding complex charges.
- Autonomous ability to coordinate tasks, hit deadlines, and operate efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Technical & Digital Proficiencies:
- Advanced Excel (financial modelling, analysis) and MSO Word skills.
- Proficient with digital communication tools via MS Outlook.
