Associate Director, Supply Chain

Position Summary
This is a full-time position leading our Supply Chain department, working in our Cambridge office on a hybrid basis (minimum 3 days in the office).
The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Director of Supply Chain to lead our supply chain function within the business. You’ll combine your strategic ownership with hands-on execution shaping our global supply chain strategy ensuring, reliable, compliant and cost-effective product supply to patients through an outsourced partner network.
This includes managing relationships with contract manufacturers, packaging and logistics providers, distributors, serialisation partners and other critical external suppliers to ensure a resilient, compliant and responsive supply chain.
Reporting to the Chief Operations and Regulatory Officer, you will work closely with Executive Leadership and colleagues across Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance, Commercial and Finance, as well as a diverse network of external partners. You will also lead and develop the Supply Chain function, creating the capability, relationships and ways of working needed to support continued growth.
This is a role for a commercially minded and collaborative supply chain leader who enjoys operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. You will have the autonomy to shape strategy, solve complex supply challenges and drive continuous improvement, while helping build a supply chain capable of supporting the next stage of the company's growth.

What you’ll be doing in this role:
Supply Chain Strategy, Planning and Operations
- Develop and execute supply chain strategies aligned to commercial priorities, product launches, lifecycle management and the organisation’s broader growth ambitions.
- Provide clear, evidence-based, risk-adjusted recommendations on supply priorities, inventory trade-offs, supplier performance and escalation requirements, enabling timely, transparent and commercially informed decision-making.
- Provide strategic oversight of the end-to-end supply chain, including demand and supply planning, inventory management, manufacturing scheduling, distribution and product availability, ensuring a reliable and responsive supply network.
- Lead the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process, bringing together commercial forecasts, customer demand, inventory strategy and manufacturing capacity to create a clear, aligned view of supply and demand. Proactively identify, communicate and mitigate emerging risks.
- Establish and optimise inventory policies and supply strategies that balance product availability, supply resilience, risk and working capital requirements.
- Define and maintain meaningful supply chain KPIs and performance measures, using data and insight to identify opportunities, strengthen accountability and drive continuous improvement across the supply network.
- Support business development initiatives, new product introductions and other growth initiatives, assessing supply chain requirements and developing scalable, compliant and fit-for-purpose supply solutions.
- Own the annual Supply Chain budget, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, optimise costs and deliver value while maintaining regulatory compliance, supply resilience and product availability.

Supply Chain Governance and Operational Excellence
- Lead strategic relationships with contract manufacturers, packaging providers, logistics partners, distributors, serialization providers and other critical supply chain partners, ensuring clear accountability and delivery against agreed service, quality and business requirements.
- Establish and maintain effective supplier governance, including structured performance reviews, service-level management, quality oversight, issue resolution and improvement plans, ensuring external partners consistently meet expectations.
- Work closely with Quality Assurance and relevant functions to ensure the external supply network operates in accordance with applicable GxP, GDP, DSCSA and other regulatory requirements.
- Lead the resolution and escalation of complex supply, quality, compliance and operational issues, coordinating internal teams and external partners to minimise business impact and protect product availability.
- Drive the development of scalable supply chain processes, improving visibility, data quality, operational efficiency and ways of working as the organisation and product portfolio grow.
- Provide governance and oversight of critical supply chain systems and data, including ERP, serialization, GS1 and inventory management platforms, ensuring robust master data, system integrity and reliable reporting.
- Establish a culture of accountability and continuous improvement across the external supply network, using supplier performance insights, operational data and emerging risks to identify and deliver sustainable improvements.
People Leadership
- Lead and develop the Supply Chain function, setting clear priorities, expectations and ways of working while creating a culture of ownership, collaboration, continuous improvement and high performance.
- Build team capability and succession strength through coaching, mentoring and targeted development, ensuring the function has the skills, expertise and capacity to support the organisation’s future growth.
- Develop strong, collaborative relationships with senior stakeholders, providing clear supply chain insight and challenge to support informed business decisions and representing Supply Chain effectively across cross-functional leadership and governance forums.

The following skills and experience will be important in helping you to succeed in this role:
- Degree (or equivalent experience) in Supply Chain Management, Business Operations, or Life Sciences.
- Significant pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare supply chain experience, including leadership responsibility for outsourced manufacturing and distribution networks.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across cross-functional teams and build strong internal and external relationships.
- Strong understanding of demand planning, inventory management, contract manufacturing, logistics, supplier management, and supply chain compliance.
- Knowledge of GDP, DSCSA, serialisation, and global pharmaceutical supply chain regulations.
- Experience leading cross-functional projects, product launches, and business-critical supply chain initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and manage complex external partnerships.
- Excellent analytical, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
