Associate Director - Tax Disputes & Investigations

UK-Wide Accountancy Firm | Yorkshire | £65,000 - £85,000 + Bonus

A well-established, growing accountancy firm with a strong UK-wide presence is looking to appoint an Associate Director - Tax Disputes & Investigations into its Yorkshire team.

The firm has an established client base across the UK and is continuing to grow its specialist tax offering. This is a great opportunity for an experienced Tax Investigations professional to take a senior role, lead complex work, and play a key part in developing the Yorkshire offering.

The Role

  • Lead complex HMRC investigations and enquiries
  • Manage COP8 & COP9 cases
  • Advise clients on contentious tax matters and HMRC enquiries
  • Lead settlement negotiations and voluntary disclosures
  • Manage HMRC correspondence, meetings, and negotiations
  • Build trusted relationships with senior clients
  • Identify business development and new work opportunities
  • Mentor and develop junior team members
  • Work closely with Partners on high-value engagements
  • Support the continued growth of the Tax Disputes & Investigations team

About You

We're looking for an experienced professional from Tax Investigations, Tax Disputes, Tax Controversy, or HMRC, with:

  • Strong experience managing complex HMRC enquiries
  • COP8/COP9 experience
  • Strong UK tax and HMRC technical knowledge
  • Experience with settlements, disclosures, and dispute resolution
  • Excellent client-facing and communication skills
  • Commercial awareness and an interest in business development
  • Experience mentoring or managing others
  • Ex-HMRC experience highly desirable
