About the Role

Our client is an independent, employee-focused building consultancy with a reputation for delivering high-quality technical advice across the built environment.

Their Structural Engineering team works on a diverse range of projects, from new-build developments to complex investigations, structural remediation and expert technical consultancy. They pride themselves on solving challenging engineering problems through collaboration, innovation and technical excellence.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead and manage complex structural engineering projects from initial instruction through to completion.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors and other stakeholders.
  • Undertake structural assessments, investigations and technical reviews.
  • Deliver holistic structural engineering consultancy advice to commercial developer and institutional investor clients.
  • Deliver innovative solutions for structural remediation following fire, flooding, subsidence, impact damage and structural defects.
  • Carry out and oversee structural surveys, defect investigations and forensic engineering assessments.
  • Produce high-quality technical reports and engineering advice.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers and graduates.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
  • Contribute to business development by identifying opportunities and promoting the companies in-house technical expertise.
  • Support the continuous development of technical standards and best practice across the business.
  • Represent the client through presentations, technical papers, industry events and professional networking.

Skills and behaviour

  • Chartered Structural Engineer (MIStructE or MICE).
  • Demonstrable experience successfully leading and managing projects while acting as the primary client interface.
  • Broad structural engineering experience covering both new-build and refurbishment projects.
  • Significant experience in structural remediation, including projects arising from fire, flooding, subsidence, structural defects and damage investigations.
  • Strong understanding of structural analysis principles and engineering behaviour.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to solve complex engineering problems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to identify opportunities and contribute to business growth.
  • A personable, approachable and supportive leadership style.
  • Passion for mentoring and developing high-performing technical teams.
