ABOUT US
Heddle Education helps schools turn their ambitions for multilingual learners into everyday classroom practice. We work with schools, trusts and international groups on EAL and language across the curriculum.
There are three pillars to our work:
- Our community, with free and paid tiers, is where EAL teachers turn for help and advice. It has grown from zero to nearly 2,000 teachers in the first year, and our paid membership includes schools in Europe, Asia and the Gulf (as well as the UK).
- Our services for MATs launched this summer, using our digital platform ("HAT") to support trust-wide school improvement for bilingual learners.
- Our international consultancy supports groups of international schools that are operating in complex, multilingual and commercially sensitive environments.
Heddle is growing quickly and our associates support our work in all three pillars.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Work is agreed project by project, based on your strengths and availability. Depending on the brief, you might:
- Develop Heddle resources — expert guides, ready-to-use CPD packs, research digests and training materials.
- Deliver or co-deliver short courses and training for our members and consultancy clients.
- Contribute specialist input to consultancy projects with schools, trusts and other settings.
- Write for our newsletter and other outputs.
- Take an active part in the Heddle community, sharing practice and answering members' questions.
- Feed into how our products, services and membership develop.

This is a freelance role, offering the flexibility to fit around your work and personal commitments. Work is allocated per project and will vary from month to month.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
- Experienced EAL teachers or leaders with a genuine interest in language across the curriculum
- A strong track record in the classroom, in leadership, or in training and consultancy — we welcome a wide range of backgrounds and specialisms
- Confident communicators who can produce clear, practical resources and deliver engaging training to adults.
- Confidence working in a dynamic environment with a committed team.
- Capacity to take on occasional project work alongside your existing commitments.
- Current DBS or willing to undertake a DBS check if required.

HOW TO APPLY
The next section will ask you a short series of screening questions for shortlisting. Then you'll be asked to tell us a little about your school and to share one idea for how we could serve schools and teachers better.
Stronger applications will show a good understanding of what we do and give a well thought-out recommendation; weaker applications will be more generic or show less awareness of our work. We'd like to get a sense of how you think about EAL and whether you've got a good grasp of the sector beyond your own classroom.
