An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate Electrical Design Engineer to join a leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy delivering some of the UK's most complex and high-profile infrastructure and building projects. Working as part of a collaborative and highly experienced team, you will play a key role in leading the design and delivery of electrical building services solutions across a diverse portfolio of projects within sectors such as defence, transportation, commercial, healthcare, education, and public infrastructure.

This position offers a clear pathway to further leadership responsibilities, technical excellence, and client-facing project delivery.

Your new role

  • Lead the design and coordination of electrical building services systems, including:
    • LV power distribution
    • Lighting and emergency lighting
    • Small power systems
    • Fire alarm systems
    • Security and access control systems
    • Earthing and lightning protection
  • Manage and mentor junior and intermediate engineers.
  • Act as a technical authority across projects and design reviews.
  • Manage project deliverables, budgets, schedules, and resource allocation.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, structural, civil, and architectural professionals.
  • Engage with clients and stakeholders, developing long-term relationships and identifying opportunities for repeat business.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practice.
  • Support business development activities including proposal preparation and bid submissions.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience delivering electrical building services design projects within a consultancy environment.
  • Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations and relevant British Standards.
  • Experience using industry-standard design software such as Amtech, Dialux, Revit, AutoCAD, or similar.
  • Proven ability to manage project delivery and client relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable:

  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership.
  • Experience working on large-scale multidisciplinary projects.
  • Knowledge of sustainable and low-carbon design principles.
  • Experience managing and developing engineering teams.
