An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate Electrical Design Engineer to join a leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy delivering some of the UK's most complex and high-profile infrastructure and building projects. Working as part of a collaborative and highly experienced team, you will play a key role in leading the design and delivery of electrical building services solutions across a diverse portfolio of projects within sectors such as defence, transportation, commercial, healthcare, education, and public infrastructure.
This position offers a clear pathway to further leadership responsibilities, technical excellence, and client-facing project delivery.
Your new role
- Lead the design and coordination of electrical building services systems, including:
- LV power distribution
- Lighting and emergency lighting
- Small power systems
- Fire alarm systems
- Security and access control systems
- Earthing and lightning protection
- Manage and mentor junior and intermediate engineers.
- Act as a technical authority across projects and design reviews.
- Manage project deliverables, budgets, schedules, and resource allocation.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, structural, civil, and architectural professionals.
- Engage with clients and stakeholders, developing long-term relationships and identifying opportunities for repeat business.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practice.
- Support business development activities including proposal preparation and bid submissions.

What you'll need to succeed
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Significant experience delivering electrical building services design projects within a consultancy environment.
- Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations and relevant British Standards.
- Experience using industry-standard design software such as Amtech, Dialux, Revit, AutoCAD, or similar.
- Proven ability to manage project delivery and client relationships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable:
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership.
- Experience working on large-scale multidisciplinary projects.
- Knowledge of sustainable and low-carbon design principles.
- Experience managing and developing engineering teams.
