Role Purpose
We are seeking an experienced and ambitious Associate Electrical Design Engineer to lead the delivery of electrical building services designs across a diverse portfolio of projects. This is a senior leadership position for a technically strong engineer who can manage projects, mentor engineering teams, develop client relationships, and contribute to the strategic growth of the business. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality electrical engineering solutions across sectors such as commercial, residential, healthcare, education, industrial, and mixed-use developments.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of electrical building services projects from concept through to completion.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring delivery to programme, budget, and quality standards.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and external stakeholders.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers and technicians.
- Oversee the production and review of detailed design calculations, specifications, reports, and drawings.
- Lead coordination with multidisciplinary design teams, including mechanical, structural, and architectural disciplines.
- Ensure compliance with current industry standards, regulations, and best practice.
- Support project bids, fee proposals, and business development activities.
- Attend client meetings, design team meetings, and site inspections where required.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers, supporting their professional growth and progression.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes and quality management systems.

Requirements
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards chartership.
- Significant experience within a building services consultancy environment.
- Proven track record delivering complex electrical design projects across multiple sectors.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Power distribution systems
- Lighting design and controls
- Emergency lighting
- Fire alarm systems
- Earthing and lightning protection
- Renewable and low-carbon technologies
- Proficient in industry-standard software such as Amtech, Dialux/Relux, AutoCAD, and Revit.
- Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations, BS7671, and relevant industry standards.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Commercial awareness with experience managing project budgets and resource allocation.

Desirable
- Previous experience in an Associate or Senior Electrical Engineer position.
- Experience leading and growing engineering teams.
- Knowledge of sustainable design principles and net-zero carbon strategies.
- Active involvement with professional institutions such as CIBSE or IET.
