The Role
As an Associate Electromagnetic Scientist, you'll help develop innovative technologies that enhance our understanding of how electromagnetic energy interacts with materials, systems and platforms across the land, air and maritime domains.
Day-to-day, you'll work as part of our RF Signatures Team, supporting a diverse portfolio of research and customer programmes. You'll combine computational modelling, laboratory testing and scientific analysis to solve complex technical problems and develop novel electromagnetic solutions. This is a unique opportunity to work across the full development lifecycle, from concept development and simulation through to testing, measurement and analysis.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering electromagnetic modelling, simulation and analysis activities across a range of projects
- Conducting laboratory-based RF measurements, material characterisation and experimental testing
- Analysing and interpreting technical data using scientific software and tools
- Producing high-quality technical reports and presenting findings to customers and stakeholders
- Supporting the development of advanced materials and technologies for electromagnetic signature management
- Contributing to trials, testing programmes and collaborative research activities
Essential experience of the Electromagnetic Scientist:
- A strong understanding of electromagnetic theory, including fields, waves, propagation and scattering
- Experience using electromagnetic modelling or simulation tools such as CST, COMSOL or similar software
- Experience applying analytical, modelling or simulation techniques to solve technical problems
- Experience collecting, processing and analysing scientific or engineering data
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts through reports and presentations
- Experience working within a scientific, engineering or research environment

Essential qualifications for the Electromagnetic Scientist:
- Degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electromagnetics or a closely related discipline
- Eligibility to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC)
- British Citizenship
- PhD not essential but certainly desirable

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Farnborough site with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week. At our Farnborough site exciting work takes place at our state-of-the-art facility, with high-energy laser technologies, our 5m pressurised wind tunnel which has a simulation capability that is unique in the UK and our large research and development projects is a real hub of creativity, research and innovation.
