Department: Energy and Sustainability

Location: London

Description

Our Energy and Sustainability department is a leading practice that advises broadly across the energy transition, covering energy infrastructure, renewables projects, energy efficiency, energy markets and regulations. A key part of our practice focuses on real estate related energy infrastructure – covering everything from heat networks and utility connections through to microgrids, renewable energy generation and storage, EV chargepoints and connected regulatory issues. We have a market leading heat network practice, advising developers, landlords and operators/suppliers on the transition to the regulated heat market. We also advise on grant funded and financed energy efficiency and decarbonisation projects, helping our clients deliver large scale retrofit programmes.

We work closely with our construction, real estate, planning, corporate, banking and tax teams to provide seamless advice on energy projects. We are at the forefront of innovation in the sector, helping our clients navigate the energy transition and how that impacts the built environment.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated Energy and Sustainability team in one of the UK's most distinctive law firms, working on some of the most innovative and impactful transactions in the domestic energy market.

The Role

  • Advising developers, landlords/landowners and operators on the procurement, negotiation and management of heat networks (including concessions, supply agreements, outsourced services and ongoing regulatory compliance).
  • Advising on energy projects, including solar, wind and battery storage.
  • Advising on large scale retrofit programmes (including grant funded, 'Energy as a Service' and subscription models).
  • Advising on microgrids and private wire arrangements.
  • Support on regulatory issues relating to electricity (generation, distribution and supply) and heat networks.
  • Advising on utility connections including ICP and IDNO arrangements.
  • Advising on Power Purchase Agreements, Heat Supply Agreements and other energy related contracts.
  • Advising on EV Chargepoints and related infrastructure.
  • Active participation in marketing and business development initiatives, including contributing to articles, events and client seminars relevant to the energy sector.
  • Building and maintaining effective client relationships and contributing to the development of the team's profile in the market.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
