Associate - Family Law

Family law is about much more than legal expertise. It's about helping people navigate some of life's most challenging and emotional moments with confidence, compassion and trusted advice.

At Slater Heelis, we're proud to do exactly that.

We're looking for an experienced Family Solicitor to join our highly regarded Family team. This is an opportunity to work on a broad range of high-quality matters while being part of a firm where people genuinely enjoy working together, support one another's growth and share a commitment to exceptional client service.

Why Slater Heelis?

Many firms promise great work, progression opportunities and flexible working. What makes Slater Heelis different is how it feels to be part of the team.

Our Family department is known for its supportive, collaborative and high-energy culture. You'll be surrounded by talented lawyers who are approachable, generous with their time and genuinely invested in each other's success. It's an environment where people enjoy coming to work, celebrate achievements together and support one another through the challenges that naturally come with working in Family Law.

You'll have real day to day access to Partners and senior leaders, working closely alongside experienced lawyers rather than feeling like one of many layers within a large hierarchy. Your contribution will be visible, valued and recognised.

We also believe that outstanding client service comes from lawyers who have the time and space to focus on quality. That's why we take a sustainable approach to performance, with realistic billing expectations that allow our lawyers to concentrate on building strong client relationships and delivering exceptional work rather than simply chasing targets.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
