FX Hedging Oversight | Associate

Team Overview

Enablement Platforms for Innovation and Change (EPIC) is a team within BlackRock's Technology & Operations division. We develop strategy and execute initiatives central to our indexing and firm-wide growth aspirations and priorities. In our day-to-day, the team brings together change professionals and domain specialists to deliver scale and innovation for BlackRock’s ETF products.

We place tremendous focus on empowering and developing our people, improving their leadership and delivery skills and broadening their firm and industry knowledge. Projects and roles are assigned not just based on successful delivery, but also on individual development objectives and career aspirations.

Looking forward to the next decade of exciting developments in ETFs, we are helping drive the multi-year transformation of our ETF platform. The new operating model will scale to support the next phase of growth across the ETF industry and ecosystem.

EPIC is building out the capability to be able to provide oversight and act as subject matter experts within the firm for the Currency hedged products in our ETF and mutual fund ranges.

Role Responsibility

Act as a subject matter expert in currency hedging for teams looking to launch currency hedged products.

  • Develop a deep operational understanding of our currency hedged ETFs and mutual funds.
  • Be able to work with both internal partners, across the organization, and external parties including currency managers and fund administrators, to find effective business solutions to meet client requirements.
  • Ensure the robustness of our products by identifying enhancements and process improvements and working with operational and technology teams to develop and implement solutions.

Key Functions include:

  • Provide oversight for the launch and operational management of products such as our currency hedged ETFs and mutual funds
  • As we take pride in delivering a varied pipeline of BlackRock products, you will be the bridge between product development, service providers and internal teams to develop and deliver on implementation plans.
  • Collect and ensure the integrity of critical data related to products, mandates, regulations and investment operations in partnership with BlackRock Data Services (BDS).
  • Manage the implementation process through use of Aladdin tools and coordinate the approval of all impacted partners.

Experience

  • You are degree qualified
  • Validated expertise in either asset management, custody, securities from a regional or global perspective
  • Good subject matter knowledge of the participants in the asset management business and their roles – fund managers, administrators, brokers, consultants and custodians
  • Strong knowledge of the asset management funds industry and experience of operational workflows in trading, compliance, middle-office, data & analytics or in the field of client reporting & performance attribution
  • Knowledge of SQL and Python is required. Knowledge of Aladdin is preferred.
  • Knowledge of FX markets and/or currency hedging preferred
  • Basic knowledge of fixed income, equity, and derivative instruments.
  • Ability to design and implement business process improvements.
  • Has a high level of self-motivation, with integrity & ethics. Has the ability to flex and to adapt to changing circumstances as the business and group grows.
  • Strong written and verbal presentation skills.
  • Strong social and relationship management ability.
  • Able to work with multiple work streams.
  • Capable of working independently, as well as being an effective and collaborative teammate.
  • Natural team player able to work in an innovative, entrepreneurial, and fast paced environment

Our hybrid work model
