A leading global investment management firm is seeking an Associate General Counsel

To join its Legal & Compliance Department and support its growing private wealth and retail business in London.

This role will suit a commercially minded lawyer who can navigate complex regulatory requirements, identify and manage legal and compliance risks, and provide clear, practical advice to the business. Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to critically assess a wide range of documentation, including marketing materials, are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic legal and regulatory advice to the non-U.S. private wealth and retail business, including advising on applicable legal and regulatory frameworks, client relationships, onboarding, and ongoing client servicing.
• Advise on relevant regulatory regimes across international jurisdictions, including UK, European, Asian, and other applicable financial services regulatory requirements.
• Partner with regional and local compliance teams to ensure policies, procedures, controls, and processes remain current, locally compliant, and appropriate for the firm's activities in each jurisdiction.
• Advise on the legal and regulatory requirements governing the distribution and delivery of investment products and services across non-U.S. markets, including assessing local licensing, registration, authorization, and market-entry requirements.
• Partner with business and compliance teams to ensure that all necessary regulatory permissions, registrations, and authorizations are obtained and maintained before entering or expanding into new markets.
• Support business, operational, technology, and risk teams throughout the development and implementation of new international advisory initiatives, including drafting and updating advisory agreements and related documentation for private and retail clients.
• Provide legal and regulatory advice in connection with technology-enabled initiatives, including the assessment and implementation of new platforms, processes, and tools.
• Provide clear, commercially focused guidance on international legal and regulatory requirements to senior leaders, advisory teams, and other stakeholders across the organization.
• Manage competing priorities effectively and work collaboratively with colleagues across multiple functions, jurisdictions, and levels of seniority.
• Develop, implement, and maintain effective legal and compliance monitoring processes designed to identify regulatory developments, anticipate emerging risks, and support ongoing compliance across the non-U.S. private wealth and retail advisory business.
