Role Description
The Associate Geotechnical Engineer role is a full-time hybrid position based in London, with the flexibility to work from home for part of the week. The role involves leading and delivering geotechnical design and analysis for a variety of infrastructure, buildings, and land development projects.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

- Planning and supervising ground investigations
- Interpreting geotechnical data
- Preparing factual and interpretative reports
- Developing foundation, retaining wall, slope stability, and ground improvement designs
- Coordinating with structural, civil, and other engineering disciplines
- Attending design and site meetings
- Providing technical guidance to junior team members
Additional Duties
- Contributing to proposals, fee estimates, and project planning
- Supporting quality assurance processes
- Maintaining strong client relationships through clear communication and timely delivery
Qualifications
- Strong geotechnical engineering knowledge, including soil and rock mechanics, ground investigation techniques, and geotechnical design for foundations, retaining structures, slopes, and earthworks.
- Proficiency with relevant geotechnical and structural analysis software (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio, WALLAP, SLOPE/W, or similar tools) and solid skills in MS Office for reporting and documentation.
- Experience in planning, managing, and interpreting site investigations, including specification of field testing, sampling, and laboratory testing, and assessment of ground conditions and risks.
- Ability to produce clear technical reports, drawings, and design deliverables, with strong written and verbal communication skills suitable for clients and multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience mentoring or supervising junior engineers, contributing to project management tasks, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
- Relevant degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (or closely related discipline) and progress toward, or achievement of, chartered status with a professional institution (e.g., ICE, IStructE, or equivalent).
