The team you’ll work with:
The Debt Finance team is responsible for managing and developing credit relationships with clients and prospects. The team leads the deal structuring and due diligence process, partnering with the Enterprise Software & AI relationship management team on the delivery and negotiation of solutions and is responsible for proactive, robust portfolio management including maintaining credit quality.
The Debt Finance team works with exciting, high-growth businesses across a broad range of sub-sectors and life-stages, from early-stage seed deals through high profile, late-stage companies pre-IPO or reaching profitability. The team works across the spectrum of HINV’s financing solutions including venture debt, late-stage growth capital, working capital, and recurring revenue facilities.
The Role:
Associates on our Venture & Growth team support the end-to-end deal process: Supporting the diligence, underwriting and execution whilst delighting clients and adhering to HSBC Innovation Banking lending policies.
Analysis and underwriting for new debt facilities and amendments including the review and due diligence on client information and financials, supporting in structuring the deal, overall credit approval package preparation and closing.
The value you’ll add:
As an Associate, you will conduct due diligence and support the structuring and delivery of Debt Finance through underwriting new loans, Cash Management requests, renewals, and credit actions related to modifications or changing risk. You will be responsible for supporting the overall lending process on new deals and modifications to existing deals, from initial analysis through documentation and closing. You will review and analyse information, and opine on clients' performance and compliance status, changing level of risk and broader trends in portfolio.

What you can expect to be doing:
- Analysis and underwriting for new debt facilities and amendments, and Cash Management lines, including the review and due diligence on client information and financials, supporting in structuring the deal, overall credit approval package preparation and closing
- Support proactive portfolio management by reviewing financial and other information to properly assess client situations and risk. Participate in client meetings as appropriate to gather and understand information to be able to effectively communicate updates to key stakeholders
- Loan maintenance activity – efficiently actions funding and repayment requests and queries from internal and external stakeholders relating to credit lines
- Provide coaching and guidance to associates supporting the team from the Associate Development Program on process and policy as required
- Contributing to projects & initiatives related to credit and portfolio management processes

Requirements
- Prior related experience in a commercial credit/lending role
- Track record of consistently demonstrating excellent credit skills
- Credit analysis and accounting experience, including capable of financial modelling and analysing management accounts
- Able to produce a high-quality draft credit memo and leverages resources to support and verify reasoning.
- Confident in prioritising workload, raising any issues and coordinating with colleagues to ensure all requests and deadlines are met.
- Proficiency in core HSBC AI tools
- Prior experience in the Innovation ecosystem is a very strong advantage
