This position will be a hybrid work arrangement. You will receive 18 remote workdays per quarter to use at your discretion, subject to manager approval. For example, you may choose to work in the office 4 days per week and take one remote day weekly (typically 13 weeks per quarter), leaving 5 additional remote days to be used as needed.

HarbourVest is currently seeking candidates for an Associate position in its Infrastructure and Real Assets Investment team, located in London. As an Associate, you will be responsible for investment analysis, due diligence, conducting return analysis and writing investment summaries. This includes, but is not limited to, partnership and company modeling, qualitative and quantitative analysis of managers, capital structures, and relevant industries, and the coordination of the closing process.

The ideal candidate is someone who is:

  • Hardworking and able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to optimally prioritize multiple responsibilities and target dates simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with ability to synthesize recommendations based on analysis with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong quantitative skills with experience in Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

What you will do:

  • Evaluating new secondary partnership and direct investment opportunities by conducting detailed due diligence on companies, researching industries and competitors, and interviewing general partners and company management.
  • Preparing financial models on companies, funds, and transactions and author investment committee materials as a member of deal teams.
  • Monitoring of existing transactions by attending general partner update calls, reviewing quarterly reporting, and staying abreast of industry news.
  • Voicing your opinions in investment discussions, making your mark in the decision-making process.
  • And other responsibilities as required

What you bring:

  • Strong professional experience in private equity, asset management, manager research, investment consulting, investment banking or related financial services.
  • Background knowledge of one or more relevant subsectors, including transportation, communication and other infrastructure, power, renewable energy, and/or natural resource sectors and companies.
  • Proven excellence in analytical reasoning, quantitative analysis, and verbal/written communications in team-based settings.
  • Ability to develop positive relationships with internal and external collaborators.
  • High level of maturity and ability to multi-task with little direct supervision.

Education Preferred:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent.

Experience:

  • 2-5 years of experience in areas including investment banking or private equity.
