As the Associate Infrastructure Operations Engineer within the National Records of Scotland (NRS) you will work within our IT Service Management and First Line support team who are responsible for administering, supporting, and maintaining our core on-premises and cloud services.
You will support, manage, and maintain the core technical infrastructure that underpins production services. As a trainee, you will work in an established team and support infrastructure operations engineers in their daily work, under their direction.

- Identify and register incidents, gathering the required information and allocating it to the appropriate channel.
- Assist in IT technical support activities and carry out agreed or routine maintenance tasks.
- Show an awareness of problem resolution processes. Pass problems on to your team.
- Investigate problems in systems, processes, and services, with an understanding of the level of a problem (for example, strategic, tactical or operational).
- Contribute to the implementation of remedies and preventative measures.
- Show an awareness or understanding of user experience analysis and its principles.
- Explain the purpose of user stories and the focus on user needs.
- On site support across the NRS offices in Edinburgh (Thomas Thomson House, General Register House, New Register House and West Register House)
