Role: Associate - Hairdressing Lecturer
Location: Bedford – Brooks Salon
Salary/Benefits: Salary is £21.50 per hour unqualified / qualified £22.50 per hour
Hours/Weeks: Various hours available as an associate Lecturer
Contract Type: Sessional – Hourly Paid

About The Role
We are currently seeking an Associate Hairdressing Lecturer to join our Hair & Beauty department at The Bedford College Group.
As an Associate Hairdressing Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
- Teaching & Learning Delivery – Delivers and assesses high-quality Hairdressing programmes across Levels 1–3, creating engaging and inclusive learning experiences that support students to achieve their full potential and progress into employment or further opportunities.
- Assessment & Student Progress – Monitors, records and evaluates student achievement, ensuring assessments meet awarding body requirements, providing effective feedback and implementing interventions to support progress and success.
- Curriculum Development & Quality Improvement – Develops and reviews schemes of work, creates innovative learning resources, contributes to quality assurance processes and supports continuous improvement in teaching, learning and curriculum delivery.
- Student Enrichment & Employer Engagement – Enhances the student experience through enrichment activities, industry-relevant opportunities, marketing events, open days, careers activities and wider curriculum engagement.
- Professional Responsibilities & Compliance – Works collaboratively across college teams, maintains up-to-date sector knowledge, promotes safeguarding, equality and diversity, health & safety, and upholds TBCG’s values while placing the student experience at the heart of all activities.
About You
- Qualifications & Industry Experience – Relevant Hairdressing qualification(s) with GCSE English and Maths, supported by industry experience, recent teaching or training experience, and commitment to achieving a teaching qualification where required.
- Teaching, Communication & Digital Skills – Strong classroom management, communication, organisational and IT skills, with the ability to deliver engaging learning, manage priorities effectively and support positive student outcomes.
- Innovation & Professional Practice – Experience embedding innovative teaching practices, maintaining high standards of delivery and continuously developing professional expertise within the hairdressing sector.
- Personal Attributes & Teamwork – Detail-oriented, adaptable and professional, with the ability to work independently or collaboratively, build positive relationships and manage workloads effectively under pressure.
- Professional Standards & Flexibility – Committed to safeguarding, equality, diversity and health & safety, with the flexibility to teach evenings/weekends, travel between campuses and maintain appropriate professional boundaries with young people.

What is an Associate?
Associates work on a short-term basis as assigned. They teach or provide support services, and they work with and are supported by core staff. As an Associate you will be issued with an Associate Agreement, under this Agreement period you will be eligible to work on assignments offered to you.

Bedford College has a number of sites across the town and surrounding areas, these include our main Cauldwell Street campus in the heart of the town, our hair and beauty salon on the High Street, the advanced automotive centre on Brunel Road and the gas and technology plumbing centre in Kempston.
