The Role

Legend is looking for an Associate Legal Counsel to join our Legal team in London, with a particular focus on Data Privacy.

This is an opportunity to build real depth in Data Privacy while getting something that can be harder to find early in your legal career: genuine ownership. As Legend enters its next phase of growth, backed by Genius Sports, you'll take the lead on day-to-day Data Privacy matters for Legend, working on everything from data processing agreements and international transfers to important privacy governance matters and advising teams on new initiatives. You'll have the opportunity to build your expertise, shape how we approach Privacy and become a trusted point of contact across the business.

The primary focus of your role will be on Data Privacy, with some additional exposure of your role across commercial agreements, employment matters and other Legal projects. You'll work closely with experienced lawyers and stakeholders across Product, Technology, Marketing, Commercial and People, translating complex Privacy requirements into practical advice that helps teams move forward.

Your Impact

  • Own day-to-day Data Privacy matters across Legend, providing practical advice to teams across our international business.
  • Develop and strengthen our Privacy frameworks, including ROPA, international data transfers, controller/processor contractual relationships and Data Processing Agreements.
  • Partner with teams across the business to embed Privacy into new initiatives and product support, translating complex requirements into clear, commercially focused advice.
  • Support broader Legal workstreams, including commercial agreements, employment matters and other projects alongside your core Data Privacy responsibilities.
  • Make things better, identifying opportunities to improve Privacy processes, guidance and ways of working as the business grows.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Why You'll Love This Role

  • Build a genuine Data Privacy specialism: make Privacy the focus of your career while continuing to develop your broader commercial legal skills.
  • Own meaningful work early: become the day-to-day contact for Privacy matters rather than spending your time sitting behind a more senior specialist.
  • Shape how we do things: you'll have the opportunity to improve our Privacy processes and influence how Data Privacy is embedded across the business.
  • Get international exposure: work through Privacy questions involving different markets, data flows, suppliers and teams across our global business.
  • Stay commercially connected: some of your role will give you exposure to commercial contracts, employment and wider Legal work.
  • Work directly with the business: partner with stakeholders across Product, Technology, Marketing, Commercial and People and see the impact of your advice.
  • Keep developing: join an experienced Legal team where you'll have support when you need it alongside the autonomy to build your expertise and take increasing ownership.

What You'll Bring

  • Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales or equivalent) with approximately 1–3 years PQE, gained in-house or within a commercial, technology, Data Privacy or related practice.
  • Practical Data Privacy / Data Protection experience, with knowledge of areas such as ROPA, international data transfers, controller/processor relationships and Data Processing Agreements.
  • A genuine interest in building Data Privacy as your specialism, while continuing to develop broader commercial legal experience.
  • Strong commercial judgement and communication skills, with the ability to turn complex legal requirements into clear, practical advice for non-legal stakeholders.
  • A proactive, curious approach, comfortable taking ownership, researching unfamiliar issues and knowing when to run with something and when to seek support.
  • Experience within technology, digital, SaaS, gaming or another data-rich international business would be advantageous, but isn't essential.
