MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • JD, LL.B., equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Qualified solicitor in the UK.
  • 3 years of legal experience in private practice or in an in-house legal team in the UK.
  • Experience in contract, commercial, intellectual property, and IT/technology law, along with advising on data protection and privacy issues (e.g., UK/EU GDPR; ePrivacy Directive).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in the online advertising, digital media, or technology sector.
  • Experience reviewing, negotiating, drafting, and advising clients on complex, multi-jurisdictional technology and commercial agreements.
  • Knowledge of privacy, consumer protection, antitrust, contract, content moderation/safety, or IP law issues in a technology context.
  • Ability to design and deliver streamlined, efficient, and impactful contracting projects and commercial programs at scale.
  • Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects to deadline in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work on a broad range of legal matters, including UK and European digital, AI, privacy, and competition regulations affecting online advertising.

As an Associate Legal Counsel on the EMEA Ads Legal team, you will sit at the intersection of commercial agreement-making, innovative ad technology, and European digital regulation.

In this broad commercial and advisory role, you will draft and negotiate a wide variety of agreements powering Google’s Ads, Analytics, and Commerce business across EMEA—spanning enterprise analytics and measurement partnerships, agency and advertiser incentive programs, and channel partner ecosystems.

Beyond transactional work, you will advise business and product teams on regional product launches and help translate evolving UK and European regulations (including English contract law, data protection/GDPR, AI, and competition rules) into practical, scalable and customer-facing solutions. Working closely with sales, product, and Global Affairs colleagues across EMEA and the US, you will build streamlined legal processes and provide pragmatic advice that helps the business grow at scale.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements with advertisers, agencies, and partners across EMEA and maintain scalable templates and playbooks that comply with company policies and local law.
  • Develop deep expertise in Google’s Ads, Analytics, and Commerce products, partnering closely with sales, product, and business clients across EMEA and the US to structure and launch new commercial initiatives and product features.
  • Advise senior management, business clients, and Global Affairs colleagues on complex agreement structures, commercial risks, and the application of company policies and English law.
  • Advise on the interpretation and practical application of UK and European laws and regulations affecting digital advertising, ensuring scaled compliance across our products and commercial frameworks.
  • Drive continuous improvement across the team’s operations by designing streamlined processes, self-service guidance, and scalable contracting and compliance solutions.
