Privacy, Cyber and Digital/Tech Regulatory Associate

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Privacy, Cyber and Digital/Tech Regulatory Associate to join our renowned team in London.

With three partners led by Simon Elliott, we collaborate closely, bring deep technical expertise, provide commercial and actionable advice, and are recognised for outstanding client relationship management. We frequently manage global mandates, requiring close coordination with multiple regions—international experience is therefore highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead teams on complex Privacy, Cyber and Digital Regulatory projects, including:
    • Privacy compliance frameworks
    • Cyber readiness assessments
    • Online safety evaluations
    • International data transfer projects (e.g., Binding Corporate Rules)
  • Draft, review, and amend Privacy/Data Protection documentation, policies, and procedures
  • Advise clients on Privent Data Protection and Cyber risks, particularly in relation to AI technology, emerging regulations (e.g., AI, Online Safety, Data Act)
  • Provide urgent incident response for major international cyber breaches, coordinating breach notifications and regulatory engagements
  • Represent the firm in regulatory enforcement investigations
  • Negotiate data privacy contractual documents in large-scale agreements
  • Lead global multi-jurisdictional projects, preparing key advice and coordinating legal teams worldwide
  • Contribute to business development (BD) and marketing activities
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of DP/CT cyber laws beyond EU/UK
  • Offer mentorship to junior colleagues and thought leadership to position the firm externally

Experience & Attributes

Highly desirable experience includes:

  • Advising on Privacy/Data Protection legal matters and documentation
  • Experience at a top-tier UK or international firm
  • Managing multi-jurisdictional frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, LGPD)
  • High-profile large-scale cyber incident response
  • Leadership in complex regulatory investigations & enforcement
  • Expertise in AI, Online Safety, Data Act and emerging digital regulations (e.g., DSAct, NIS2)
  • Denegotiation in large-scale data transfers (e.g., Binding Corporate Rules, BCRs)
  • AdTech, consumer data strategy and direct marketing compliance
  • Handling Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) & Individual Rights
  • Performing DPIA audits and compliance violations reviews
  • Expertise in data protection within loyalty, marketing, and technology agreements
