The Role

The Accounts Associate Manager is responsible for preparing advanced statutory financial statements, corporation tax computations, and other compliance deliverables for a mixed portfolio of complex / non-complex clients, under the supervision of Associate Directors, demonstrating good technical knowledge. Associate Managers are expected to support Senior Associates and other junior staff through coaching and review, contribute to process improvements, and maintain high standards of accuracy and client service.

Key Responsibilities:

Client / Technical Delivery

  • Review complex and straightforward accounts and tax returns prepared by offshore teams for sole traders, partnerships, LLPs, and limited companies, ensuring compliance with UK GAAP and minimal supervision.
  • Understand each client’s business to provide tailored service and identify value-added opportunities for manager review.
  • Draft solutions for technical issues using available resources, for Manager or AD approval. Complete work within deadlines and budgets, flagging issues early and updating system workflows.
  • Seek and act on feedback to improve quality and reduce review points.
  • Review accounts and tax files prepared by Senior Associates, Associates, and offshore teams.
  • Liaise with clients to ensure timely receipt of information and assist in client meetings as needed.
  • Support business development by engaging with LinkedIn and marketing, understanding firm services, and identifying referral opportunities.

People/Team Management

  • Support ongoing training and development of team members at all levels.
  • Seek and act on feedback from others to improve work quality.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience:

  • Ideally a minimum 3 years’ experience working in practice.
  • Typically, ACA or ACCA qualified.
  • Proficient in Xero, Sage 50 Accounts, QuickBooks, Excel, and other accounting and tax software.
  • Committed to completing relevant Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for expertise and to stay up to date.
  • Confident verbal communicator, adapting style appropriately to different audiences.
  • Excellent written communication, tailoring language for internal teams and clients.
  • Enjoys problem-solving and can manage client issues using logical, established methods with support.
  • Adapts flexibly and professionally to change.
  • Demonstrates an organised and thorough approach to own work.
