Your New Company
You will be joining an independent Mechanical & Electrical Building Services Consultancy based in the West Midlands, delivering technical design and advisory services across a diverse range of sectors. Their portfolio spans automotive, education, healthcare, hotels, logistics, leisure, public sector, commercial offices, luxury residential, retail, pharmaceutical and heritage projects, along with some overseas work. They operate across both new–build and refurbishment schemes, with a strong reputation for providing practical, high–quality engineering solutions.
The consultancy is known for its hands–on, collaborative culture, technical strength, and long–standing client relationships, offering engineers the opportunity to work across varied and technically interesting projects.
Your New Role
As an Associate Director – Mechanical, you will take a senior leadership position within the business, combining technical delivery, team leadership, and client engagement. You will be responsible for leading mechanical design across multiple projects while supporting the wider growth and direction of the engineering team. This role offers a balance of hands–on design oversight and strategic input, working closely with directors and multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities Include
- Leading mechanical building services design from concept through to completion
- Overseeing multiple projects across a range of sectors, ensuring quality and delivery
- Providing technical guidance and mentorship to engineers at all levels
- Acting as a key client contact and maintaining strong working relationships
- Reviewing designs, specifications, and project documentation
- Attending client meetings, design reviews, and site inspections
- Supporting team management, resourcing, and project planning
- Contributing to business development and identifying new opportunities

What You'll Need To Succeed
- Degree or HND in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering
- Chartered Engineer status (or close to achieving)
- Extensive experience within a building services consultancy environment
- Strong track record of delivering mechanical design across multiple sectors
- Experience leading projects and mentoring engineers
- Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations and industry standards
- Proficiency with design software such as IES, Hevacomp, and AutoCAD (Revit beneficial)
- Excellent communication skills and ability to manage client relationships
- Commercial awareness and the ability to contribute to business growth
