Salary: £60,000 - £80,000 GBP Annual + Car Allowance

Your New Company
Tetra Tech, a global leader in high–end consulting and engineering services, is seeking an experienced Associate Mechanical or Electrical Design Engineer to join their Building Services team in either Birmingham or Leicester. With a strong UK presence and a reputation for delivering innovative, sustainable solutions, Tetra Tech works across a wide range of sectors including Healthcare, Education, Commercial, and Defence. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in delivering high–profile projects while helping to shape the future of the built environment.
Your New Role
Responsibilities:
- Leading the mechanical or electrical design process from concept to completion
- Overseeing the production of detailed calculations, specifications, and technical drawings
- Managing project delivery, including resource planning, budgeting, and quality assurance
- Conducting site inspections and supporting construction–stage activities
- Collaborating with clients, architects, and other engineering disciplines
- Mentoring junior and intermediate engineers, supporting their development
- Contributing to business development, fee proposals, and bid submissions
- Promoting sustainable design and innovation across all projects

What You'll Need To Succeed
- Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related field
- Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it)
- Proven experience delivering building services projects within a consultancy environment
- Strong leadership and project management skills
- Excellent communication and client–facing abilities
- Commercial awareness and experience with project cost control
- Proficiency in relevant design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Amtech, Hevacomp, IES, Dialux, Relux)
- Full UK driving licence
