Associate Occupational Therapist

This is a self-employed Associate opportunity rather than a salaried position. Earnings are not guaranteed and will depend on caseload availability, the volume of work accepted and your individual capacity.

For the right OT, however, it provides the opportunity to turn professional expertise into a highly flexible income stream without the travel and many of the administrative demands associated with traditional clinical practice.

Who are we looking for?

We are particularly interested in experienced Occupational Therapists who combine excellent clinical reasoning with empathy, curiosity and strong written communication.

You should have:

• Current HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist in good standing.
• A minimum of five years' post-qualification experience.
• Strong experience assessing adults and/or older people.
• Excellent understanding of functional ability and activities of daily living.
• Experience working with people living with multiple or long-term health conditions.
• Strong clinical reasoning and assessment skills.
• Excellent written English and the ability to translate a detailed conversation into clear, accurate and person-centred documentation.
• The ability to build rapport with older people over the telephone.
• Confidence working independently and managing your own workload.
• Good digital skills and the ability to work accurately with electronic systems.
• A commitment to confidentiality, data protection and professional standards.
• The right to work and practise as an Occupational Therapist in the UK.

Experience of community OT, older people's services, social care, rehabilitation, frailty, neurology, mental health or other roles involving detailed functional assessment would be particularly relevant. Previous experience of Attendance Allowance or disability benefits is helpful but not essential. We provide comprehensive training in our assessment methodology, processes and systems.

What makes someone successful at AAS?

The strongest AAS OT's are not simply good form-fillers, they are skilled clinicians. They listen carefully, ask the right questions and understand that two people with the same diagnosis can experience very different levels of functional difficulty.

You will need to be comfortable working autonomously while following an established process, meeting agreed service standards and maintaining consistently high-quality documentation.

Most importantly, you should genuinely enjoy speaking with older people and helping them articulate the difficulties they may have gradually come to regard as simply part of everyday life.

• HubSpot CRM
• Data protection and professional standards
• Quality expectations and AAS processes

You will then move towards independent practice with appropriate clinical support and quality assurance.
