The Associate Physiotherapist is a flexible role primarily delivering our home-based services in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, with potential for clinic-based work too.
Responsibilities
- Assessing patients with age-related, respiratory, post-operative, and musculoskeletal conditions
- Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans
- Delivering evidence-based physiotherapy interventions
- Monitoring patient progress
- Updating documentation
- Collaborating with senior physiotherapists and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care
- Educating patients and caregivers on exercise programs, falls prevention strategies, and self-management techniques, while promoting safety and comfort in all settings
- Scheduling follow-up appointments
- Maintaining accurate clinical records
- Contributing to service quality improvement
Qualifications
- Professional physiotherapy qualification (e.g., BSc or MSc in Physiotherapy) and current registration with the relevant professional body (such as HCPC or equivalent)
- Minimum three years in a community-facing role as a clinical physiotherapist, ideally within the NHS
- Clinical skills in assessment and treatment of falls risk, mobility and stability issues, and musculoskeletal complaints
- Experience or strong interest in respiratory physiotherapy, including COPD management, breathlessness, and pulmonary rehabilitation techniques
- Competence in post-operative rehabilitation, particularly knee and hip replacements, and other orthopaedic procedures
- Ability to provide person-centered care, including home-based visits, with strong empathy, active listening, and respectful communication
- Sound clinical reasoning, record-keeping, and documentation skills, with attention to confidentiality and regulatory standards
- Effective teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to coordinate care with senior clinicians, GPs, and community services
- Strong time management and organizational skills to manage caseloads across clinic and home settings
- Comfort working with older adults and individuals with complex long-term conditions; prior community or geriatric experience is an advantage
- Valid driver’s license and access to transport for home visits in Nottingham and East Nottinghamshire with the ability to load and unload necessary therapy and other equipment
