About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Mid-Level Associate to join our highly regarded Power, Utilities and Infrastructure (PUI) team that provides tailored strategic financial advice to clients across the power generation (primarily focused on renewables), utilities, environmental services and infrastructure, energy infrastructure, transport and energy transition (hydrogen, energy storage, EV charging) sectors.

The primary focus of the team is on M&A / Equity Advisory while also collaborating with other teams across the Bank on Financing and Equity Capital Markets opportunities.

The role offers the chance to be part of a dynamic, high-performing and well-respected team that is at the forefront of Europe’s energy and infrastructure transition.

You will have exposure to a wide variety of sub-sectors within PUI as well as products (M&A, Equity, Debt) working collaboratively with various teams and having plenty of opportunity to take a leading role in presenting and executing deals.

By working with more responsibility and closer on all aspects of deals compared to peers at other organisations you will have an outstanding opportunity to develop your personal brand and career, helping SG maintain its position as a leader in this market and positioning yourself as a true expert.

Key Purposes / Responsibilities of the Role

We are looking for someone to be based in London with strong financial modelling skills, sector knowledge and a pro-active attitude who can guide / mentor analysts and interns while playing an integral role supporting the execution of M&A mandates, strategic advisory and capital markets transactions.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and Assisting in the origination and execution of Corporate Finance transactions across the PUI sector
  • Leading the preparation and pitching of presentations to clients, investors and the broader investment community
  • Financial Statement Analysis and modelling to create company valuations primarily using market / M&A multiples and DCF’s
  • Help develop transaction structures
  • Maintain up to date market knowledge and M&A, Equity and Debt related deals
  • Working collaboratively with other product and country teams as required
  • Efficiently supervising junior colleagues, taking responsibility for their work
  • Able to develop cross-product approach, working effectively with other business lines
  • Able to interface directly with clients at all levels

Required

Profile Required

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering or related discipline. Advanced qualifications (e.g MSc) are advantageous
  • Experience in an Investment Banking, or related Financial Services environment with exposure to energy and / or infrastructure sectors
  • Advanced financial modelling and valuation skills
  • Commercially aware with ability to come up with own origination ideas
  • Strong analytical thinker with ability to synthesise complex information quickly and accurately
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills – Fluent English is required with additional European languages being beneficial but not essential
  • A pro-active and organised approach to work with ability to manage multiple priorities
  • A collaborative and team-orientated mindset with willingness to take ownership and accountability
  • Developed negotiation skills with ability to influence both internally and externally
