Job Description

Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Associate Practitioners to join the Respiratory and Sleep Physiology team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. Working closely with Respiratory Physiologists and the wider multidisciplinary team, the post holders will support the delivery of a comprehensive range of respiratory diagnostic and monitoring services, helping to provide high-quality, patient-centred care across a variety of clinical settings.

The successful candidates will assist with a range of respiratory investigations, including spirometry, bronchodilator reversibility testing, and other respiratory physiology procedures, supporting the efficient delivery of services and ensuring a positive patient experience. This role offers excellent opportunities for learning and development, with structured support to develop knowledge and skills within respiratory diagnostics and physiology.

The post holders will be primarily based at St James's University Hospital but will be expected to work across our Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) sites, including Armley and Beeston, with future opportunities to support service delivery at Seacroft Hospital as services continue to expand. The successful candidates will contribute to maintaining high standards of patient care, quality, and professionalism while supporting the ongoing development of the service.

What You Will Bring To The Role

  • Performs investigations on a range of patients including paediatric, elderly, and those with a range of physical and learning disabilities. These can include but are not limited to:

    • Spirometry
    • Reversibility studies
    • Full pulmonary function testing
    • Capillary blood gases
    • Any other investigation within the departmental standard operating procedure, appropriate to role.
  • Communicates information about routine respiratory investigations to senior members of staff.

  • Performs routine maintenance of a range of technical equipment.

  • Calibrates and manipulates a wide range of technical equipment which process, create, update, and store information.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certificate in spirometry, or experience and proven competency in performing, interpreting, and reporting spirometry.
  • Basic life support training.
  • GCSEs grade A-C in English and Maths, or equivalent.
