The Opportunity
We are seeking a senior associate to join our market-leading Insurance and Reinsurance team.
The successful candidate will work with insurers, insurance brokers, intermediaries financial institutions and commercial organisations on a broad range of insurance regulatory and commercial insurance matters.
This role offers exposure to a varied and high-quality workload, advising clients on complex insurance related issues, including, distribution arrangements, policy documentation and insurance-related transactional matters. The successful candidate will work closely with partners and colleagues across the firm's wider insurance practice, contributing to the delivery of practical and commercially focused legal advice.

Key Responsibilities
- Reviewing and advising upon insurance policy wordings across a range of insurance classes
- Advising clients on insurance regulatory requirements under the FCA Handbook
- Advising on insurance distribution activities, appointed representative arrangements and conduct of business requirements.
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating insurance market agreements, including binding authority agreements and claims handling agreements.
- Advising businesses whose primary activity is not insurance on the regulatory implications of offering or distributing insurance products.
- Assisting with insurance aspects of corporate and real estate transactions, including insurance risk transfer structures and transactional liability insurance.
- Advising on insurance coverage issues and disputes arising under insurance market agreements.
Skills and Experience
We are looking for:
- Qualified solicitor with experience gained within a leading law firm, in-house legal team or financial services environment.
- Good experience of reviewing insurance policies
- Experience advising on non contentious insurance and insurance regulatory matters.
- Good understanding of the FCA Handbook and the UK insurance regulatory framework.
- Experience reviewing commercial agreements.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Commercial awareness and a pragmatic approach to problem solving.
- Strong communication and client relationship skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
- An interest in developing a long-term career within the insurance sector.
