The Opportunity

A leading institutional investment manager is seeking an experienced, commercially minded, and intellectually curious Associate to join its Private Credit Asset Management team.

The role sits at the intersection of portfolio management, investing, and credit risk, with exposure to a broad and evolving portfolio of structured lending transactions, including fund financings, NAV facilities, corporate first-out lending, asset-backed facilities, and other bespoke structured credit solutions.

This is an active asset management role, offering responsibility from initial closing through to exit or refinancing. The successful candidate will work closely with origination teams, senior stakeholders, and external counterparties to protect and enhance portfolio value, manage credit risk, and influence outcomes across a sophisticated private credit portfolio.

This is an opportunity to join a well-established institutional investor with a substantial and diverse private markets platform. The role offers meaningful exposure to structured credit, special situations, and institutional portfolio management, alongside the opportunity to work across investment, risk, legal, and portfolio management functions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
