Associate / Senior Associate – Professional Indemnity

Location: London
Salary: Competitive (DOE)

A specialist and growing law firm is seeking an experienced Professional Indemnity Associate or Senior Associate to join its established insurance team in London.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious insurance lawyer to join a highly specialist practice handling a broad range of complex and high-quality Professional Indemnity and financial lines matters.

The successful candidate will work closely with experienced lawyers and leading insurance clients, managing a varied caseload with significant responsibility and excellent exposure to litigation. The firm offers a more hands-on and entrepreneurial environment than many larger practices, with lawyers encouraged to take ownership of their matters and develop strong client relationships.

Requirements:

  • Ideally 5+ years' PQE for the Associate position, with 8+ years' PQE considered for Senior Associate level.
  • Strong Professional Indemnity experience is essential.
  • Experience acting for insurers is highly desirable.
  • Experience defending claims against solicitors would be advantageous.
  • Experience involving financial advisers, accountants, or other professionals would be beneficial.
  • Construction Professional Indemnity experience would also be of interest.
  • Strong litigation and case management experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Commercial awareness and a client-focused approach.
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Ambition to develop within a growing specialist practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing a varied caseload of Professional Indemnity claims.
  • Defending claims against a range of professional clients.
  • Conducting litigation and managing matters through to resolution.
  • Advising on coverage and policy-related issues.
  • Handling wider financial lines matters, including D&O claims.
  • Assisting with regulatory investigations and enforcement matters.
  • Developing case strategy and proactively managing matters.
  • Working closely with insurer clients and their claims teams.
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Providing commercially focused advice on complex claims.
  • Taking responsibility for the progression of matters and client communication.
  • Contributing to the continued growth and development of the firm's insurance practice.
