Associate Project Manager

Due to continued growth and recent project successes, we're expanding our Project Management team, and we are looking for an experienced Associate Project Manager to lead the delivery of major complex infrastructure projects and programmes, with a particular focus on the Water and Environment sector.

This is a leadership opportunity for an accomplished project professional looking to play a key role in the delivery of major infrastructure programmes while helping to shape the future growth of our business. With a particular focus on the Water and Environment sector, you will lead strategic client relationships, support business development activities, and provide leadership across complex programmes and multidisciplinary teams.

The role can be based from any of our UK offices, including Cardiff, Bristol, London, Winchester, Reading, Oxford, Cheltenham, Cambridge, Birmingham, Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester, and Newcastle.

What you need to do to be effective in this role

  • Provide leadership across major infrastructure programmes and frameworks, ensuring successful delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to key clients, developing and maintaining long-term strategic relationships.
  • Take accountability for the commercial performance and profitability of commissions and frameworks.
  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams and support the development of project management staff across the business.
  • Identify and secure opportunities for business growth within existing and prospective client accounts.
  • Lead major bids, tenders and framework submissions.
  • Support business planning and contribute to sector growth strategies.
  • Responsibility for growing key client accounts, recruitment and contributing to business strategy.
  • Champion best practice in project management, governance, risk management and project controls.
  • Oversee project performance across programme portfolios, ensuring delivery to agreed objectives.
  • Represent Ridge at industry events, client meetings and professional forums.
  • Promote collaboration across Ridge's service lines to maximise value for clients.
  • Contribute to recruitment, mentoring and talent development within the Project Management team.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative and high-performing team culture

  • 10+ years' experience delivering complex infrastructure projects and programmes within the Water and Environmental sector (this is essential). Other infrastructure sectors are desirable.
  • Proven track record leading major programmes, frameworks and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong client relationship management skills, with experience engaging senior stakeholders.
  • Demonstrable commercial acumen, including fee management, forecasting and NEC3/NEC4 contract administration. NEC4 Accreditation would beneficial.
  • Experience identifying and securing new business opportunities and supporting account growth.
  • Degree qualified in Engineering, Project Management, Environmental Management, or a related discipline.
  • Hold an industry-recognised Project Management qualification (APM PMQ, PRINCE2 or equivalent).
  • Chartered status (ChPP, MRICS, MICE, CEng or equivalent).
  • Strong leadership, communication and people development skills.
  • Excellent understanding of project governance, risk management and project controls.
  • Have experience with line management responsibilities.
