Associate - Property Disputes

Description
We provide a fully integrated real estate dispute resolution legal service for clients which works closely alongside our national projects, real estate, construction and litigation teams. The team are looking for an Associate to join our Birmingham office.
The Role
You will be involved with a range of work principally including:
- Commercial portfolio and development related disputes and strategic advice for landowners, developers and local authorities.
- Commercial landlord and tenant matters (e.g. 1954 Act, alienation, break rights, dilapidations), disputes concerning property contracts, property related insolvency (both real property and landlord and tenant), other real property related disputes, such as rights of way, adverse possession and restrictive covenants.
- Opportunities to be involved in higher value residential matters, including in relation to investment properties and group actions on behalf of block investors.
- Handling proceedings in all levels of Courts and Tribunals, and being involved in without prejudice settlement processes including formal mediations.
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with clients and market intermediaries.
- Proactive participation in individual, team and office-based business development initiatives.
- Participation in firm-wide and departmental meetings, training sessions and social events.
- Delegating client work effectively to more junior fee-earners as appropriate and contributing to their development.
- Contributing effectively to department and firm wide performance goals.
- Ensuring files are managed in compliance with Lexcel procedures.

The Candidate
The firm has a Career Development Framework which sets out the competencies we expect of those at the Associate grade. In particular for this role we require:
- Candidates with 1-4 years' relevant post qualification experience gained from a reputable firm.
- Previous property disputes experience.
- Excellent technical skills.
- Strong client focus.
- A team player.
- Ability to prioritise work effectively and meet deadlines.
- Ability to deal with innovative deals and bespoke documents.
- Drive and enthusiasm.
- Commercial awareness.
- Excellent academic record.
