Job Description
We are seeking an associate SDET, with experience in automating tests for scalable application components, which are remotely deployed. Our distributed solution requires highly motivated and talented engineers to understand the depth of the problem and ensure its quality is maintained to a high standard.
We are looking for an individual with great attention to detail, who is genuine, committed and not only passionate about technology, but is keen to own the solution end to end and collaborate with other engineers to improve the QA process.

Your team: The Belfast team at BlueOptima caters to all current and upcoming product changes in Active MultiSite, which is our distributed version control solution. The team develops and maintains sets of automated test cases across UI and API, focusing on data-centric as well as integration test cases.
The team is responsible for making sure that manual efforts, and in turn the release cycles, are reduced by automating tests based on priority, along with integrating the test suites with CI/CD pipelines to ensure smooth delivery of features and products in an automated manner.
Responsibilities and tasks
The role will focus on, but not exclusively, the following:

Ensuring product quality:
- Work with engineering and architecture to implement the plan developed for automating test cases and ensuring adequate automation coverage
- Create and maintain test automation (both UI and API) within CI/CD pipelines
- Ensure the expected behaviour of code prior to product releases
- Increase overall coverage of automation suite
- Curate reports for the stakeholders
Qualifications

Key Proficiencies:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (CS/IT) or 1 to 3 years of professional experience in software development or software testing
- Experience writing code in an Object-Oriented language such as Java
- Experience with version control systems such as Git, Subversion
Desired Skills:
- Over 1 year of experience of writing test automation.
- Experience writing web-page automation preferably using Selenium and Java
- Experience with testing distributed systems
- Knowledge of Linux administration, packaging and command line use
- Knowledge of Scripting languages (Shell, Bash, Python)
- Knowledge of virtualization / containerization technologies
- Knowledge of test automation frameworks, including JUnit, TestNG
