What you’ll do
We are seeking to recruit an experienced Associate/Senior Associate (with at least 3 years+ PQE) to join our well-regarded Business Risk & Regulation team. Based in our Bristol office, you will work closely with the head of the team to play an integral part in the team, working across a full range of regulatory work.
Our Business Risk & Regulation team advises corporate clients and public sector bodies on advisory and contentious regulatory work, including public inquiries, inquests and disciplinary matters. Led by Partner Ian Manners, the team is recognised by Legal 500 as a Tier 1 firm for Health & Safety and Environmental work.
Our Regulatory practice covers a range of areas, meaning you can expect a diverse caseload of work, including health & safety (including fire and building safety), crisis management and investigations, environmental regulation, consumer protection, food and product regulation, healthcare regulation, anti-bribery & corruption / AML, ESG matters, inquests and public inquiries, immigration regulation, information regulation and financial services regulation.
Working alongside recognised specialists, you'll join a collaborative and highly regarded team that advises clients on complex and often business-critical regulatory issues. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to broaden their expertise, develop their profile in the market and play an active role in the continued growth of a successful and nationally recognised practice.
This role offers significant client contact from the outset and the opportunity to work directly with senior lawyers on complex, high-profile matters. Alongside your client work, you'll be encouraged to contribute to business development activities, develop your professional network and support the continued growth of the practice through profile-raising and thought leadership initiatives.
Who you are
With a solid grounding in regulatory law, ideally gained with a national, regional or City firm, and experience advising clients on a range of regulatory compliance, enforcement and risk management matters, you’ll be known as an excellent communicator with strong technical and organisational skills.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
