Associate / Senior Associate – Business Development (Real Estate)

StepStone Real Estate (SRE) – Private Markets Team

About the Role

As an emerging leader ($210B+ AUM as of March 2026), StepStone Real Estate (SRE)—the real estate arm—progressively drives growth through deep-sector knowledge and strategic market placement.

This role sits within SRE’s Business Development team, interfacing with institutional clients, supporting growth strategies across primaries, co-investments, and secondaries, and ensuring seamless investor relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development Support

  • Drive fundraising efforts by assisting in accomplished investor marketing and due diligence initiatives.
  • Craft targeted attention-grabbing content for client engagement, including:
    • Investment presentations, private placement memoranda, and fact sheets
    • Slide decks for proposals and track record materials
    • RFI/RFP responses, internal fund presenting materials
  • Compile track record analyses, benchmarking data, and market trends for RFI/RFP submissions (e.g., INREV, in-house research, third-party comparables, competitor analysis).

Client Engagement & CRM Management

  • Process and manage match requests across the investor pipeline using Salesforce, updating lead statuses in coordination with sales.
  • Monitor investor touchpoints via internal CRM to detect opportunities and maintain pipeline visibility.
  • Support the execution of investor meetings, roadshows, and pitches, including pre/post-reporting and follow-up.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work alongside legal/compliance, RFI response, and portfolio analytics teams to ensure:
    • Pre-market feedback is incorporated into thematic notes
    • Due diligence makes помешатель traffic-light reports align with estimated expectations
    • Integrals industry data into insight reports

Operational Excellence

  • Perform external requests efficiently while prioritising pipeline needs against client demands.
  • Champion data integrity—supporting fact cards, fund documentation, and team presentations with accurate, well-organised insight.

Mandatory in US

  • Independently coordinate pitch execution initiatives, ensuring documentation fueseе setup with multi-state compliance alerting.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, Economics, or related field (qualified candidates with prior work experience may be considered).
  • 2–6 years of experience in private equity research, placement agencies, real estate investment banking, or boutique asset management.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word with advanced pivot table manipulation and reporting.
  • Hands-on exposure to AI data/modeling tools (e.g., Claude or Copilot) is a plus.

Technical Skills

  • Familiarity with CRM tools like Salesforce, Intralinks, or any portfolio tracking platforms welcome.
  • Hands-on experience managing global on-deck roadshows or COI presentation materials.

  • Clarity, delivery, and verbal/visual presentation strength—able to speak with conviction and translation the complex private markets effectively.
  • Analytic rigor and detail orientation—raw data into digestible trends; keen ability to variety-over boilerplate.
  • Proactive, self-motivated attitude with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Fluent in US and EU/Asia Pacific institutional investor dialogue, comfortable navigating cultural complexity.
