Key Responsibilities

• Advising with respect to debt restructurings and lender negotiations; distressed and opportunistic investments including special situations and debt sales.
• Assisting in due diligence and analysis of capital structures, security packages and creditor positions and supporting cross-border transactions.
• Assisting in connection with formal insolvency processes including prepack insolvency transactions, administrations, liquidations and receiverships.
• Assisting with distressed property assignments including security reviews, appointment of receivers and administrators, validity of appointment advice and sales on behalf of office holders and lenders under power of sale.
• Advising lenders on validity of security, enforcement strategies, facilitating appointment of office holders.
• Assisting on board support assignments providing advice and assistance to corporate entities in the ‘twilight zone’ of solvency.
• Having a good working knowledge of and ability to advise comprehensively on insolvency litigation practice and procedures in both corporate and personal insolvency claims context.
• Being able to identify litigation funding options available to clients and advise on their ability to secure litigation funding and/or insurance options as appropriate.
• Being able to effectively and pro-actively manage own matters
• Briefing Counsel and/or third-party experts as required on specific matter assignments.

What Are We Looking For

Important criteria:

• Qualified solicitor or equivalent
• Demonstrable experience in supporting a Restructuring team
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to carry out effective legal research under own initiative as required
• Experience in developing client relationships
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise ensuring effective case timetable management
• Proficient in use of legal document management systems
