Nova Care Consultants is a multi-award-winning independent health and care service operating seven days a week across England and Wales, ensuring responsive support for clients and communities. The organisation provides comprehensive, impartial services with a strong focus on mental health, forensics, community care, residential and nursing care reports, and capacity assessments. Nova Care Consultants works closely with legal professionals, financial advisers, private clients, families, and communities, and is highly regarded for clear, solution-focused reports and assessments. The company offers rapid assessments within seven working days and maintains a 100% acceptance rate for its work, under both public funding (Legal Aid) and private client arrangements. In 2024, Nova Care Consultants is expanding by onboarding additional experienced independent social work, nursing, and occupational therapy associates.

Role Description

The Associate Social Worker – Newcastle role is a remote-based contractor position (self-employed) responsible for delivering expert, independent social work services. Day-to-day tasks include:

  • Conducting comprehensive assessments
  • Preparing clear and evidence-based care reports
  • Undertaking capacity assessments in line with relevant legislation and best practice

The role involves collaborating with legal professionals, healthcare providers, families, and community agencies to develop solution-focused care plans and interventions. The Associate Social Worker will manage a small caseload, maintain accurate and timely records, and ensure all work meets quality, safeguarding, and regulatory standards. The position also requires regular virtual meetings, adherence to service deadlines, and contribution to the continuous improvement of Nova Care Consultants’ services.

Qualifications

  • Professional social work qualification (e.g., degree in Social Work) and registration with the appropriate UK regulatory body (such as Social Work England). ASYE is essential. AMHP, PEPS I or II, and BIA is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in mental health, community, or forensic social work, including capacity assessments and care planning.
  • Strong assessment, report-writing, and analytical skills, with the ability to produce clear, structured, and solution-focused documentation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with clients, families, legal professionals, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency with digital tools and remote working practices, including secure record-keeping and virtual meetings.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, safeguarding procedures, and best practice in health and social care.
  • Ability to work independently, manage a varied caseload, and meet time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Experience working under Legal Aid or with private clients is advantageous, as is prior work with independent consultancy or expert witness services.
